Technical Implementers
IHE takes a consistent approach to the management of healthcare information across the many domains of healthcare practice.
For each clinical domain (Radiology, Cardiology, Pathology etc) IHE maintains a set of Profiles. These are reference points that implementers can use to ensure an interoperable deployment.
The central concept (the IT Framework) is referenced and used by all the domains. It has some key features that ensure current and future open use of the data.
- It uses internationally established web services technologies.
- There is a patient-centric registry of all information referenced in the IHE network.
- Patient’s privacy and consent is managed coherently for all participating IHE applications in any deployment.
- Separation of meta-data means that relevant information can be found reliably and quickly.
